Our Story
The Victory House began as a heartfelt vision born from compassion and a deep understanding of the struggles faced by women and children in crisis. In the Dufferin-Caledon area, a small group of caring individuals recognized the urgent need for a safe, nurturing space where healing and transformation could take root.
After helping several women navigate challenging circumstances, it became clear that something more was needed—a haven where women could find not only shelter but also the support and tools to rebuild their lives. Inspired by this need, the vision for a transitional home took shape: a place offering hope, healing, and empowerment for women and their children during times of crisis.
As this idea was shared, it resonated deeply within the community. A dedicated group quickly came together to form the steering committee for The Victory House Association of Dufferin-Caledon. With unwavering commitment, they established the organization as a registered charity and laid the foundation for this vital initiative.
The response from the community has been extraordinary. More than 50 passionate volunteers have joined the mission, bringing their time, talents, and hearts to make The Victory House a reality. Their collective efforts reflect the power of a shared vision and the strength of a community united in purpose.

Today, The Victory House stands as a beacon of hope, a testament to what can be achieved when people come together to make a difference. This is more than a story about a home—it’s a story about love, resilience, and the incredible potential for change when we care for one another.

Opening the Door to Change Program
At The Victory House, we provide more than just a place to stay—we offer a sanctuary where women and their children can find peace, support, and a pathway to a brighter future. Residents are welcomed into a safe, nurturing environment for up to six months, giving them the time and space to heal, grow, and rebuild their lives after facing life’s most challenging seasons.
Our program is designed with each woman at the center of her own journey. Together, we create a personalized plan tailored to her unique needs, aspirations, and circumstances. This collaborative approach ensures that every step taken is purposeful and empowering.
Those steps are:
Boundaries are an important part of good decision making. Each week time is spent
reading and discussing boundaries. The aim is to gain understanding by addressing
questions such as: What is a boundary? Why are they important? How do I develop healthy
boundaries and apply them to my life? A devotion and reflection period is set aside during
each session.
Good Nutrition, food preparation and cooking are essential for good physical health. They
also contribute substantially to emotional well-being, budgeting and independence by
building self-confidence, creativity, social and practical skills. The weekly sessions will be
tailored to individual needs. The focus will be on instilling interest, confidence and
enjoyment in healthy eating and food preparation.
Journaling provides an opportunity to write your personal daily thoughts and hear God
speak to you. Part of understanding where you are going is knowing where you have been.
Each week a daily devotional is read together, and you will have time to record your
personal thoughts. We suggest this to be done daily and reviewed weekly together with
your Support Worker.
Goal Setting allows time to explore new possibilities. What were your past successes? Is
there something you would like to change going forward? How can you live your best life
and how does that look? Taking time to think about what gives you energy and what steals
your energy is a good place to start. You will create your own Vision Board by bringing your
ideas forward and creating a picture of your goals and dreams.
Financial planning helps you to understand your current financial situation better. Goals
are set towards saving for permanent housing and living independently.
Our ultimate goal is to empower women to take charge of their lives, rediscover their strength, and move forward with confidence and hope. Through our program, residents not only find a safe place to stay but also gain the tools and support needed to build lasting independence and thrive in their communities.
